Magee 1866 is a fifth generation Irish family business with over 150 years experience of designing, weaving and tailoring luxury fabrics and clothing in Donegal.
The Magee story began over 150 years ago when John Magee opened a small draper's store in Donegal, Ireland. Back then, the robust and coarse tweed fabric was hand-woven by part-time fishermen and farmers across Donegal. This fabric proved perfect to counteract the damp and cold weather often found in the North West of Ireland - a far cry from the luxurious fabrics produced today. In 1900, Robert Temple, a cousin and former apprentice of John Magee, took over the business. Today, members of the third and fourth generations of the Temple family - Lynn, Charlotte, Paddy and Rosy - continue to run the business successfully.
